5 policemen dismissed for extortion from sacrificial animal car

Five policemen have been suspended on charges of extortion by intercepting the cattle car of the victim.

 

The police headquarters says that there is no exemption if a member of the police is involved in any kind of crime. In this regard, the position of Bangladesh Police is ‘Zero Tolerance’.

This information was informed in a press release signed by Superintendent of Police Inamul Haque Sagar of Media and Public Relations Department of Police Headquarters on Saturday afternoon, June 15.

It is said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has once again declared in an unequivocal voice that there is no exemption if any member of the Bangladesh Police is involved in any type of crime.

Last Thursday (June 13) in a televised report, in view of the complaint of the policeman collecting money from the cattle cart of the victim, Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police on the same day (June 13) SI (Unarmed) Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Rupganj Thana, Narayanganj; SI (Armed) Md. Asaduzzaman, Police Lines, Narayanganj; Constable Md. Nazir Sheikh, Police Lines, Narayanganj; Constable Jugal Mondal, Police Lines, Narayanganj and Constable Tanveer Hossain Akash, Police Lines, Narayanganj have been suspended.

Besides, an investigation committee headed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Narayanganj district has been formed to investigate this incident. In view of the committee’s report, departmental action will be taken against them as per rules.
